Join THE Sangha

Joining the Sanctuary requires some in-person training. We have specific evening sessions designed for those new here, or new to the practice of yoga entirely.

In order to become part of the sangha, attendance to these sessions is a prerequisite. This is in order to learn how to navigate and best use the space, tune yourself into the energy by establishing how to conduct yourself when here, and to learn the specific yoga postures, breath work and meditation techniques that we use in the wider sessions.

Once the practice is embodied and you’re embedded into the way things work here, you will be able to participate in the full schedule through becoming a member.

If you unable to join in-person, there is still the opportunity to learn the principles and specific techniques used in Living Yoga via our online introduction course (coming soon).

Starter Sessions

The Starter Sessions run every Thursday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm, during term time. Through attending these sessions you will steadily build your confidence in the four principles and the six keys of Living Yoga. You will be given your Sadhana - an initial sequence of yoga postures, breath work and meditation techniques through which your self-transformation journey can flourish.

There is no upper limit to the amount of time you can attend the Thursday evening sessions, but you must attend a minimum of four before you can graduate to the wider sessions and access the full schedule.

BOOKING A STAY

If the pull to go deeper calls you then there is also the option to come and stay at the ashram. Whether it’s for a night, a week, a month or even longer.

The option of staying overnight is open to all established members of the sangha, in order to turn their visit to the ashram into a retreat. In this way, you can fully embroil yourself into the practice and the communal aspect of life here to facilitate a deep recalibration for yourself, outside of the hustle and bustle of the modern world.

Please note if you do not have full Ashram Membership, you’ll need to sign up for this over the month of your stay, or book in for the sessions on a ‘drop-in’ basis as a Remote or On Demand Membership.

Throughout the year we also run focused, organised retreats to create a specific container for growth over either a long weekend, or a whole week. These are announced with as much notice as possible via our newsletter and WhatsApp community.

Living on the Ashram

For those whose circumstances allow, living-in long term offers the opportunity for you to fall completely into rhythm with ashram life and become an integral part of the community here.

Although we are not a monastic community, living-in long term requires a strong commitment to your own growth process and coming into harmony with a certain way of life. Living at the ashram is as demanding as it is rewarding! In order to apply for a space to live-in you must already be an active member of the sangha and well established in your sadhana, with an earnest desire to go deeper into rarely explored territory.

It’s quite something to live in a community where everyone is pulling in the same direction, doing their own inner work, and serving something beyond themselves. Students Of The Lineage

Studentship of the Lineage is the container for those that are walking the path earnestly, with bhakti, dedication and a mind-body that has been tested and tempered by tapasya and sadhana over a sustained period of time.

The diksha (initiation) into Studentship of the Lineage is both a baptism (*a transmission of energy*) and a rite of passage. The yogi dedicates their soul to an uncompromising life lived in service of Truth, Love and Freedom, borne out of an ever deepening surrender to the greater intelligence of life, under the guidance of the Masters.

Knowing what your life is really all about allows one to relinquish your need for worldly approval and thereby give you back the power to live your life from a place of truth and absolute authenticity, unshackled from the the ego.

New initiations into the Lineage take place once per year, usually over the annual ‘Guru Purnima’ ( full moon in July ) and SoL initiates gather together for a dedicated weekend each term at the ashram.

The next SoL initiation opportunity will be during our India Retreat.
